TRAMP!

Trampolines. Ban them. They should go the way of the three wheeled trike. Inherently dangerous and of no intrinsic value. There are three things I will not tolerate: Intolerance of other people's culture, the Dutch and trampolines.

Back story: I ruptured my patellar tendon and tore my mcl & acl on a trampoline on May 29, 2016. Had surgery on May 30, 2016 to repair said damage. It is now 6 weeks later and my (right) knee is still in an immobilizer. I was in great shape, routinely running six mile clips averaging 7:45 minute miles and I was riding my ass off. Complete stop. 60 to zero.

I go back to the doctor today to get my first taste of flexion. Apparently they start me with 30 degrees of flexion. It is my sincere desire that this is the first step in my complete recovery. I have no idea though. All I know is I need to get back on my feet and begin my campaign against trampolines.

TLDR: Trampolines are the devils game.

Two Hearted Ale

I have been absolutely obsessed with IPAs in 2015. The lead pony so far is without a doubt Two Hearted Ale from Bells Brewery:   https://www.bellsbeer.com/brands/info/2.  The way this beer looks in a glass matches perfectly with the way it tastes, and both are awesome. I'm a beer drinker, not a beer reviewer - go to beer advocate of ratebeer.com if you want a review.

Since April of 2015 I have biked 518.48 miles and have ran 110.93 miles. This does not include treadmill work (if any). And this is how I can drink so much beer and still maintain my fighting weight.

It's my brothers

Alright - a long hiatus I know. But I have a new job and I've been busy (drinking beer - the cause and solution to all life's problems). I have a friend who is a recovering alcoholic and smokes pot instead - out of the frying pan, into the fryer. But - if you ever get arrested for holding, invoke the "it's my brother's" defense: http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=180043.

That shit works!

Mondays

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Don't_Like_Mondays_(song)

And if you follow that link you'll see I'm not alone. It was, however, an excellent weekend. Weather was chill but the sun was out. Had the motorcycle out on Saturday, freezing my ass off but smiling. FYI: It's a 2005 Harley Sportster 1200r with a complete stage 1 (carb jets, pipes, airfilter) upgrade. Sort of loud, sort of fast. I had a 1996 CBR 900RR previously, not so loud, scary fast. I need to change the engine oil in the Harley, but I'm having trouble finding the oil. I even went to Walmart on Saturday morning (holy zoo batman) to see if they had it but no luck.

Now Walmart used to be the best place to go for people watching (rivaled only by the downtown Price Chopper). And it still is, however, with the economy in the tank it appears some of Target's clientel have ventured over there for some super discounts. It was quite a mixed bag on Saturday. I saw a lot of families that seemed to think it was a theme park. I shit you not there was a family there that had their kids on the little quarter rides in front of the store and the mom had a rather large and professional looking digital camera around her neck and she was setting up shots of the kids! I find it hard to believe the event was fortuitous. Who goes to Walmart with a $2000 digital camera on their neck without a plan?

And as luck would have it - I just had to run into someone I knew at Walmart on a Saturday morning . . . (de-emphasis added). Johnny, whose family owns PJ's Barbeque - the official air freshner of Saratoga in the summer - was walking out as I was walking in. PJ's is also the official countdown to Summer (late spring) as their large prominent sign counts down the "weeks until open." DEFCON PJ's currently set at 4!

Got a couple of the bicycles out of the garage on Saturday too. Took some short spins up and down the street, it puts too much weight on my shoulder though so - those get moth balled for another month. I did talk to my doctor's office last Thursday about running again and they actually gave me the green light! (Shit, no excuses anymore).

Went for a run early Sunday morning, 7 or 8 miles. Went better than expected but I'm pretty sore today. Now I just need to keep it up. Running is like cigarrettes - your first few are terrible, but if you persevere and keep it up, you'll crave that shit. I didn't like my first beer either, look at me now! http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://wso.williams.edu/~srura/gems/bitterbeer.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.golfhos.com/topic-7057.html&h=120&w=87&sz=15&tbnid=ZwP2Lyvyla4J:&tbnh=120&tbnw=87&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbitter%2Bbeer%2Bface&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=1&ct=image&cd=1

After the run I purchased 2 kayaks from Backcountry.com. The wife made me do it! I love that woman. http://outside.away.com/outside/gear/200712/gift-guide-necky-manitou-13.html
I chose these Kyaks specifically because of this picture. That's it, no other reason (I'm joking of course, but what a photo).

Spent Sunday mid-morning at Starbucks with my brother and some friends, couldn't talk the wife into coming downtown. Once she turns the fireplace on at the house it takes a lot to make her leave, and apparently me, my brother and my best man (and his girlfriend, and their dog) sitting around drinking coffee wasn't enough. Neither was going to Peabody's for a burger and some beers in the afternoon. I thought for sure the burger would do it, but she's all strict about her diet . . . I however, could have used her there to be the yin to my beer drinking yang.

What about church on Easter Sunday you ask? Fat Chance suckers! http://www.bikecult.com/works/archive/04bicycles/fatchanceYEB.html
We don't do the bible in our house.

Legend has it the on his death bed WC Fields was seen reading the bible, when one of his friends asked the confirmed atheist why, he replied "looking for loopholes." The way I see it is all he had to do was say "I'm sorry, and I accept Jesus" with his last breath. There's your loophole bud.

Do dogs believe in a higher power? http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=080324031036.hpe4uyox&show_article=1&image=large
"How does one possess the ball? When one realizes that you do not possess the ball, but that there is no ball. Until you reach enlightenment the ball possess you."

That's all for now, need to get to work - and use the bathroom. Hopefully I'll be out of there quicker than this woman: http://edition.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/03/20/woman.bathroom.ap/

Panda Watch!

The mood is tense. Actually, the funkometer reads: George Clinton. Now that's funky. But that's the kind of month I've been having - 2 months actually, and I may explain the catalyst at a later date. Alright, I'll explain now. I shattered my collar bone while snowboarding at Mount Snow in January. I'm now the proud owner of a titanium plate and 11 screws (I asked for atomantium instead of titanium but my health insurance wouldn't approve it). I am know made of the same metal as the Lightspeed I can't afford.(http://www.litespeed.com/bikes/2006/road/ghisallo_.aspx) I've been on "light duty" since then and will remain on light duty until at least April 22. I've self diagnosed my mental state as: Acute cabinfever with residual S.A.D. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seasonal_affective_disorder) aggravated by inactivity and a slight hangover. Actually, the hangover part is not true. I'm probably still legally drunk, I won't be hungover until around lunch time. And I blame Arrogant Bastard Ale http://www.stonebrew.com/.

This is my first post, and may be my last. But while I'm here let me explain: LiquidCycles will mostly be me rambling (http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/index.php?module=My_eGallery&do=showpic&pid=8392&orderby=dateD) but I'll try to keep it centered on two wheels and adult sodas. I also plan on directing your attention to some web sites I find interesting (and I usually find them interesting while I'm at work).

Let me begin by saying if you're looking for some real wit head over to http://bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/, because you wont find it here.

And if you like motorcycles (2 wheels bud, I'll talk about razor scooters if I want to) http://thekneeslider.com/ is a must read. The motorcycle training motorcycle post (say it slowly - you'll get it) alone is worth a look.

And if you need a new mountain bike:http://www.douglas1.com/hollow.htm. These were going for almost $2,000 retail. I know, I have one. And the $80 complete pivot kit - they had issues with the pivots and replaced them under warranty. Maybe this guy bought a spare.

I'll try to imbed photos and get the hot links right for future posts. Just copy and paste for now. I'll leave you with this: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/03/21/eagleray/index.html as evidence it could be worse. What are the chances?

And by the way, if anybody actually reads this and posts a comment . . . what's up with the podium comment crap? Who started that and why is being the first to post a comment on a blog/news story/web article medal worthy? My boss actually will skip the articles and read only the comments section. If he sees a funny comment he will then post a comment - without reading the article . . . yeah, hi Peter, whaaaat's happening . . .
